Mistaking plastic sheets for prey! The owl s talons are entangled and unable to move

According to a report by DailyPaws, a Great Horned Owl stood helplessly on the road in Idaho, USA. There was a lot of traffic at the time, and the passing drivers were worried about it, so they requested the assistance of the Idaho Police Department. Although great horned owls are very common in the local area, because they are nocturnal animals and mostly hide in bushes and rock caves during the day, the police were confused when they received reports that there were great horned owls appearing in broad daylight.

After police officer Brandalyn Crapo arrived at the scene, he found that the great horned owl's paws were tightly wrapped in plastic sheeting. While waiting for the arrival of wildlife rescue volunteers, Crapo first parked the police car behind it to ensure its safety. Volunteer James McKinley then helped the great horned owl untie the plastic sheet. After confirming that it was not injured, he took a few photos as a souvenir and immediately released it into the wild so that the great horned owl could go home quickly and stay awake.

McKinley said that because the great eagle owl likes to swoop down on empty roads to catch prey in the dead of night, the great eagle owl probably saw the plastic sheet blown away by the wind and mistook it for moving prey. It was accidentally entangled during the capture process and stayed there until dawn, until a kind driver found it and was freed.

The Great Horned Owl had a tough night. Not only did it not catch its prey, it was also trapped on the road, so it looked very tired. Fortunately, it was safe in the end!
