According to Givemesport, Zachar hopes to transfer to Sunderland as soon as possible, and the club is optimistic about reaching an agreement.

Zhaka's agent said in an interview with GMS: "We have reached a principled agreement with Sunderland on terms. Zhaka hopes to return to the Premier League, which is an exciting new challenge. Now, an agreement needs to be reached with Leverkusen."

"Zhaka's time at Leverkusen is very pleasant, and we are grateful for everything the club has done for him. We hope Leverkusen can reach an agreement with Sunderland, and we are confident that the negotiations will continue in a friendly way given the strong relationship between Zhaka and Leverkusen."

"Zhaka understands his importance in Leverkusen, and although he hopes to join Sunderland, he has full respect for Leverkusen."

Zhaka currently hopes to be able to make a breakthrough in the negotiations as soon as possible, but his contract with Leverkusen will not expire until 2028 and remains a key player for the team. He has made 99 appearances for the club and has played a key role in the 2023/24 Bundesliga title.

Sunderland has introduced another midfielder, Habib Diyala, but their reinforcement work in the midfield is not over yet.

Leverkusen's new coach Ten Hach had a tough summer, with both Wiltz and Flynnon transferring to Liverpool. Zach is the player that Tenghach would rather stay, but due to the mutual respect between the players and Leverkusen, the negotiations on leaving the team are very friendly, which also makes Sunderland optimistic about reaching an agreement.
