Thames: Semenho’s £65 million release clause can only be activated for a period of time in early January

The Times reported that Bournemouth winger Semenho's contract termination clause can indeed be activated in January, but only in early January.

Semenyo is expected to become a target in the transfer market in January next year due to the 65 million pound release clause in his contract. The Ghana international has attracted many teams to chase him in this summer transfer window. The then 25-year-old was priced at about 70 million pounds, but Bournemouth successfully persuaded him to stay with the team and signed a new five-year contract in July.

However, this new contract contains a release clause, amounting to 65 million pounds, which will take effect in early January and will only last for a limited period (it will not last until the end of the month) to allow Bournemouth to find a replacement before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham were all interested in Semenho this summer. Because Ghana failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations, he will not participate in the African Cup of Nations next month like Salah and others. Semenho joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023 for £9 million. This season, he has contributed 6 goals and 3 assists.
