The Daily Mail reported that Carlisle United striker Luke Armstrong suffered a serious facial injury in the opening game of the new season.

The team coached by Mark Hughes defeated Wojing 2-0 in its first game after being relegated from the League Two last season.

But the team's momentum was clouded by Armstrong's serious injury, and he was forced to replace him due to a serious facial injury during the game. The forward collided with Vogin goalkeeper Craig Ross in the head while fighting for a supplemental shot in the penalty area after opening the team's first record in the 57th minute, who scratched Armstrong.

Ros was not punished because he touched the ball first, avoiding the team conceded the ball again. Armstrong was replaced by George Kelly, and Carlisle United expanded the score with Ethan Robson's exquisite free kick just 10 minutes later.

Carlisle United announced details of the injury on Instagram, and the photos showed a huge laceration on the right side of the player. The club captioned it: "Fight bloody! This is the best player of the game we beat Vojing today. Beautiful job, Luke!"

It is not yet certain whether the 29-year-old striker can play against Bolumwood on Saturday.
