
Singapore's space field has been developing continuously in recent years. Since 2011, my country has launched 30 satellites and is expected to deploy at least nine more satellites by 2027. The local area currently also has more than 2,000 industry professionals from more than 70 companies.
SSTL made this announcement Tuesday (May 27). It said that as the application of Earth Observation technology in the Asia-Pacific region continues to grow, this area is expected to bring economic value added to the region by 2030.
Other members of the think tank board include Dr. Raha Hakimdavar, a former Georgetown University research professor, Japanese space entrepreneur Hidetaka Aoki, Candace Johnson, founder of European Satellite Company, and Jason Bender, partner at Deloitte Space.The local space organization Singapore Aerospace and Technology Corporation (SSTL) announced its transformation into Singapore Space and Technology Think Tank (SST Think Tank). It also launched two plans to promote the commercialization of space technology in Asia and accelerate the cross-border application of space technology.
Think Tank Chairman and former deputy chief scientist of NASA, Dr Kartik Sheth said: "Asia has always been a silent strongman in the space field. Today, we have reached a critical development node. The establishment of the think tank is a signal and a solution. We will promote practical business results and make space technology a part of the mainstream business strategy."
