Qualcomm and BMW Group jointly released the Snapdragon Ride Pilot platform today (5th) today, a new automatic driving (AD) system developed by both parties in three years. This advanced AD system is built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride SoC, and is paired with the leading industry Snapdragon Ride AD software stack developed by both parties. Designed by the highest safety standards, the system supports multi-level automatic driving from new vehicle safety assessment plan (NCAP) to Level 2+ highway and city navigation assistance (NOA).

Qualcomm pointed out that the Snapdragon Ride Pilot was launched globally today on the new BMW iX3, which is the first mass-produced car of BMW Neue Klasse. The system has been certified by more than 60 countries and plans to expand to more than 100 countries in 2026. Currently, Snapdragon Ride Pilot has officially opened to global automobile manufacturers and Tier1 suppliers.

Qualcomm pointed out that the Snapdragon Ride AD software stacking development of Snapdragon Ride Pilot has condensed the results of global cooperation. More than 1,400 experts from Germany, the United States, Sweden, Romania and the BMW Automated Driving Test Center in the Czech Republic have completed this technology together in three years.

Qualcomm Technologies Automotive & Industry and Embedded IoT Group General Manager Nakul Duggal noted that the collaboration with BMW’s world-class engineering team is truly revolutionary, allowing the company to create a world-class system that can now bring the safety and comfort of automatic driving to consumers across the globe, “Together, we created the Snapdragon Ride Pilot, this is an innovative driving assistance system that takes safety first and sets new markers for the industry. We are excited to see it implemented on the BMW iX3, supporting BMW's vision for smart and safe driving, and look forward to promoting mobile solutions into a new era of innovation and excellence with widespread adoption."

Dr. Mihiar Ayoubi, senior vice president of BMW Group Driver Experience Development, said that this collaboration will create the most advanced driver assistance system and set up new rods. Wisdom, symbiosis and safety are BMW's core philosophy in ADAS (Advanced Drive Assistance System), and the new BMW iX3 will realize this scene at an unprecedented level.

Qualcomm recommends Snapdragon Ride automatic driving software stacking

Snapdragon Ride automatic driving software stacking tools are equipped with a perceived stacking developed by Qualcomm Technology, and a driving strategy engine jointly developed with BMW. Its design is designed to help automakers and first-class suppliers build scalable solutions that are flexible, cost-effective and quickly available on the market based on their own driving strategies or a single package platform.

This stack is divided into multiple levels, including 360-degree perception, which can support object detection, landscape image, track identification, traffic mark reading, parking assistance, driving monitoring, and map construction; safety-first approach, Snapdragon Ride Pilot Taking safety as a priority, strictly abide by the vehicle safety integrity level (ASIL) and functional safety (FuSa) standards, and supports compliance with the latest safety regulations; in addition, advanced situation-aware driving, and through a balance between rules and AI-based models, behavior prediction and behavior planning are implemented to assist in the implementation of safety in complex driving situations.

Qualcomm pointed out that data and simulation factories are key components of Snapdragon Ride, which provide support for stack development and testing. This tool link integrates real world data, synthetic data generation, and AI-based simulation to create a powerful and diverse driving situation, thereby enhancing the training and testing results of the car model. The factory's functions enable automatic driving software to be developed quickly to meet complex real world situations.
